dying 1.jpg

Deadline: Oct. 8.

The guides are looking for an indication of many folks would be interested, that would help a lot in planning supplies.

The dye, about a yard of cotton sheeting to experiment with, and some other necessaries will be supplied.

If you are planning on bringing your own fabric, please let them know - you will probably need to do some prep, and we won't have the facility to do yards and yards.

You should plan to bring your own rubber gloves and scissors if you are in, they may have a few more minor supplies to ask that you bring later, as well as wearing clothes that won't be harmed if dye gets splashed.

Please contact the guides via Facebook by Oct. 8. Robyn Beth Priestley and Kellie Hultgren.

Date: Oct. 20

Location: Lakamaga Cabin

Class time: 3-5pm

Deadline to sign up: 10/12/2018

In this class, we will make a moisturizing, non-comedogenic, cold process bastille soap using Shea Butter, Castor oil, and Olive Oil.

This soap is safe to use on the face or on sensitive skin. The basic recipe is unscented but there will be a variety of fragrance oils and essential oils available for you to experiment with. All soaping and safety equipment will be provided.

We will also discuss period soap-making techniques and materials and ingredients used and how they differ from what we use today.

Due to the nature of this class and the cost of materials and equipment, class spots will need to be reserved so that enough ingredients and materials can be provided. If you are interested in taking this class, please email aibhilinfhionn@gmail.com or PM me through Facebook as Aibhilin Fhionn.

Requirements:
• Minimum age is 18 (16 with direct parent supervision and participation), we will be working with sodium hydroxide and it is a caustic chemical.
• Participants should wear long sleeves.
• Class fee is $10 to make a half-batch (about 6 bars) of soap and $13 to make a full batch (about 12 bars).
